Weathering the Storms of Doubt

“Come,” He said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭14:29-31‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Yesterday was a great day without event. I woke around 7 am and decided to attempt to make it as normal a day as possible. I dressed, brushed my teeth, brushed my hair (yes, I still have my hair for now), shaved, and got dressed. I spent the day awake trying to do some normal-type activities. As the day wore on, the normalcy became more real. It is comforting to me to understand there can be order and routine in my new world.

Last evening, for whatever reason, small doubts began to creep into my mind. These doubts can grow very quickly into something that is difficult to manage. To overcome this doubt, I find it necessary to often remind myself of the great things God has already done for me in this battle and whisper a prayer for strength of mind. As is illustrated in the scripture I selected for this post, it remains crucial that one’s faith and attention is focused upon God.
