Speak to The Mountain

“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” Mark 11:23

During the past couple of days, I have gone through what I believe is my nadir. Yep, I had to look it up…Nadir is a term that basically means Continue reading

Be Strong

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

I’ve been somewhat lax in keeping up with my blog for the past couple of days. I have been fortunate to be permitted to work some this week, which has made me a little more tired than I anticipated. It is great to be able to do some work! Continue reading

Weathering the Storms of Doubt

“Come,” He said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭14:29-31‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Yesterday was a great day without event. I woke around 7 am and decided to attempt to make it as normal a day as possible. I dressed, brushed my teeth, brushed my hair (yes, I still have my hair for now), shaved, Continue reading

Normal?

““The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.”
‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭19:11-12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Today was mostly encompassed by sleep. There were some really good thunderstorms at home today and the sound of the heavy rain drops beating against the roof was very relaxing. Continue reading

Counting my blessings today:

“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.James 5:13

– Today my youngest daughter (Mallorie) and her husband (Jon) came down to visit from Tulsa. It was such a blessing to see and visit with them. I know the visit was a blessing for Dena too. Dena hadn’t been able to get away from the hospital in the past five days and I could tell it was wearing on her. Jon and Mallorie quickly agreed to take Dena out for lunch. They even brought me back an awesome red velvet cupcake!

– While Mallorie, Jon, and Dena were away for lunch, a good friend and coworker came by to cheer me up. It was great to see him as we don’t get to see each other face to face and we always enjoy a good conversation. It was so nice to have the company!

Standing in the Wind

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.””
John 16:33

Today marks the fifth day I’ve been in the hospital receiving this round of chemo. The plan is to release me from the hospital early tomorrow morning. At that time, I will go to the cancer center and have a slow infusion of another drug and then have an injection to help boost my white blood cells. At that point, it is anticipated that I can be on my way home. Near the end of the month we will come back and start the process over. Continue reading

The Greatest of These is Love

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres… And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-7, 13 NIV

Today was filled with more blessings poured upon me. As some background, I haven’t had the relationship with my father that I should have. Sadly, it has been over 10 years since I had seen him. This is solely through my fault. However, I received an email from him last night explaining he and my stepmother were coming to visit me in the hospital today and needed directions and the hospital information. It is easily a 5 hour drive one way from his home to the hospital. Continue reading

One huge blessing involves our 4 legged family member; our black lab Ninja. He is an awesome guy but really hates being crated. He has the run of the house day and night. However, with the frequency of the treatments and the fact that he could get the toxicity, we were worried about having to have him boarded as he would be crated. I contacted the lady who was fostering ninja when we adopted him and she was glad to temporarily foster him for us until I complete these treatments. We will definitely miss him but know he is in great hands and with someone he loves and someone who loves him. I know that in several months we will be able to be reunited. Thank you Terri for offering to do this! You are a blessing sent from heaven and an answer to our prayers!

Praise in the storm!
